FAQ

Logistics & Duration

  1. How long is the journey from Yogyakarta to the Mount Bromo area?
The non-stop drive from Yogyakarta to the Bromo area (e.g., Cemoro Lawang or Probolinggo) typically takes between 10 to 12 hours, depending on traffic and rest stops. We highly recommend booking a 3-day itinerary or more to include sufficient rest.
  2. Can we drive directly from Yogyakarta to Ijen Crater without stopping?
While technically possible, a direct drive from Yogyakarta to the Ijen area (Banyuwangi) would take over 15 hours. For safety and comfort, we strongly recommend a minimum of a 3-day itinerary with overnight stops, usually near Bromo and then Ijen.
  3. What is the pickup and drop-off flexibility in Yogyakarta?
We offer flexible door-to-door service. The driver can pick you up from any location in Yogyakarta, including Adisutjipto Airport (JOG), Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA), Tugu Station, or your hotel/residence.

Pricing & Inclusions

  1. Why is the price higher for the Yogyakarta route than the Surabaya route?
The increased price reflects the significantly longer distance and time required for the round trip (or one-way trip). The cost covers the extra fuel consumption, road tolls, and the additional days required for the driver’s accommodation and meals.
  2. Does the rental price include accommodation for passengers?
No. The car rental price covers only the vehicle, driver, fuel, and the driver’s own expenses. You are responsible for booking and paying for your own accommodation near Bromo and Ijen.
  3. Are the Bromo 4×4 Jeep and National Park entrance fees included?
No. The price covers transportation to the destination. All mandatory local services, such as the Bromo 4×4 Jeep rental and all National Park entrance tickets (Bromo and Ijen), must be paid for separately by the customer.

Driver & Safety

  1. Are the drivers experienced with the long-distance routes to East Java?
Yes. Our drivers are highly experienced in navigating the trans-Java route, especially the challenging mountain roads leading to Bromo and Ijen. They are focused on safety and will manage the driving schedule responsibly.
  2. Will the driver wait for us during the Ijen Blue Fire trek?
Yes. The driver will drop you off at the Ijen basecamp (Paltuding) and wait while you complete the trek with a local guide. The trekking duration (typically 4-6 hours round trip) is factored into the multi-day rental schedule.

Customization & End Point

  1. Can we end the trip in Bali instead of returning to Yogyakarta?
Yes. We offer one-way drop-offs to Ketapang Port (for the Bali ferry). A transfer to Bali usually involves an additional surcharge to cover the driver’s ferry costs and return journey back to Java. Please specify your desired final drop-off when booking.
  2. Is it possible to add a stop at Mount Bromo’s Tumpak Sewu Waterfall during this trip?
Yes, but due to the already long drive, adding Tumpak Sewu will require a more relaxed itinerary (e.g., a 4-day trip) to prevent driver fatigue. Please inquire about customized itineraries when you book.
